被蹂躪的家政婦

　　有一戶人家，他們世代隱居在由高墻和籬笆圍起的一方天地里。與世隔絕的他們不論外界的時代如何更替，文明怎樣進展，仍然固守著古老的生活方式，簡樸、素雅、純真。有時候，豐沛的陽光會穿過茂密的守護森林，毫無保留地照耀著每一棵古樹、每              一寸厚土，也照耀著光影里兩個精靈般嬉戲時而消失又突然顯現的 少年。　　成長的路總不是一片坦途，正如叛逆的陣痛永遠會如期而至。眼看著新鮮力量就要沖破這亙古的高墻和藩籬，然而母親的離奇暴斃，妹妹的突然失蹤，父親愈發的心事重重，都令少年更加堅信自己身處在一個古老而危險的秘密之中，而這個秘密的答案，也許就能解開羈絆在自己和妹妹身上的神秘力量的終極謎題...... 

　　在孔雀鎮的鐵路旁邊，生活著一個有著灰暗過去的男子——約翰·斯基爾帕（希里安·墨菲 Cillian Murphy 飾），他自幼在母親的淫威下長大，由此養成了壓抑自閉的性格。在母親去世后，約翰的人格分裂，其內心生出象征母性的女子埃瑪。約翰就這樣在男女兩個身份間轉換，過著平靜而扭曲的隱蔽生活。　　某個清晨，災禍突然降臨。一個火車頭脫軌闖入約翰家的院子，正在晾曬衣物的埃瑪受到驚嚇，并且出現在小鎮人民的面前。人們對此議論紛紛，約翰則希望盡快將火車頭清除院子，然而政客們卻打算以此作為政治斗爭的砝碼。面對種種混亂的局面，約翰和埃瑪的心中焦慮重重，他們的矛盾也漸次激化……

　　Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
